What's going on here?

I've made a commitment: to do one good deed per day. Large or small, it doesn't matter. Self-sacrificing or not, extraordinary or mundane, it doesn't matter. Just one thing every day, that's all.

The more I do good, the better I feel about myself. Truly, to benefit others is to benefit yourself. I hope this journal may inspire others who also yearn to do good. So join me on this journey, if you will, and think about the difference you can make in your own life.

Franchised!

Daniel and Felipe Caltabiano
This blog has been franchised!  After finding this site, a pair of brothers in Brazil by the names of Daniel and Felipe Caltabiano were inspired to take on the same challenge.

Not only that, but they've gone worldwide, with the goal of 10,000 deeds in one year.  You can post your own deeds on their Facebook wall to add to the count!

Follow them on their website, Holistic Self-improvement, or on Facebook.

  2. I must admit, that over the past few months I have had a voice in my head tell me to start the same sort of challenge...and most importantly to communicate it by writing. Recently, the push has been a little stronger, more frequent. As such, I just now decided to google if other sites like this existed. As you can imagine, I was pumped to find out they did!! Normally after one would have an idea that's already been taken to the public, you would feel a bit defeated ("damn, they got to it before I did!"). But my reaction was quite the opposite. I feel that good deeds are infectious. When you see someone do something nice, you automatically want to do something nice in return. I once actually saw one homeless man give another homeless man change...and man, did that get my "giving" juices flowing.

I'm pumped to see that this is spreading. I do think that the more people do this, the more it will catch on. Imagine living in a world where good deeds are the norm? Where we treat strangers with the same respect and love we would show to our close friends and family? Thats the kind of world I want my children to experience...

Much love and thanks for kicking off this trend!
